New entitlements guide for people with heart failure

Information booklet aims to help people navigate health and social care entitlements

The Irish Heart Foundation has developed a new information booklet for people living with heart failure to help them navigate social welfare and health entitlements in Ireland.

The Irish Heart Foundation’s ‘Guide to Entitlements for People with Heart Failure,’ is designed to help heart failure patients navigate the sometimes complex areas of social welfare and health entitlements.

There are a number of sicknesses and disability benefits heart failure patients, may be entitled to claim across the HSE and social welfare systems.

“We hope this booklet will be a welcome guide to those living with heart failure and their family members."

From medical cards to home supports, and disability payments to pensions, this booklet is a one-stop shop for people to understand the information they need to access these supports.

Commenting Katie Casey, Heart Programme Officer with the Irish Heart Foundation, said, “We hope this booklet will be a welcome guide to those living with heart failure and their family members. It aims to provide a clear picture of what sickness and disability benefits they or their loved ones, may be able to claim in a format that is easily accessible, navigated, and understood.”
