Move More Walking Challenge

Welcome to the Irish Heart Foundation’s ‘Move More Walking Challenge’ – an easy to follow six-week exercise programme aimed to help everyone move more for the good of their health.

Simply download the guide here which take you through the challenge and help you gradually increase the amount of exercise you do each week. By the end of the challenge you will be have reached the recommended guidelines for physical activity and developed a new habit of moving more for the good of your health.

Each week you will be encouraged to include a new activity into your routine and the videos below will talk you through each one.

Week 1 – Warming up

Warming up is critical for prepping your body.

Week 2 – Warming down

Warming down allows the heart rate to return to normal.

Week 3 – Moderate Intensity

What is moderate intensity exercise?

Week 4 - Strength Exercises

Exercises to strengthen all the major muscle groups

Week 5 - Balance Activity

Balance activity is recommended for posture, and core strength.

The Irish Heart Foundation is working in partnership with parkrun to encourage more people to get out and get active in their local community.

The Irish Heart Foundation is teaming up with parkrun Ireland to encourage more people to join the parkrun Community as a walker. At the end of the Move More Walking Challenge you will be encouraged to register to walk in a parkrun 5Kevent to mark the end of the challenge and the start of a new you.
