The Irish Heart Foundation’s February 2021 campaign raised more than half a million euro
You ran, you walked, you shopped, and because of you many hearts have been saved.
The Irish Heart Foundation’s recent Valentine’s Day fundraising campaign raised a record breaking € 506,781 the largest amount raised by any campaign that the Irish Heart Foundation has run in 25 years.
Our partnership with Dunnes Stores where from the 11th to the 14th of February shoppers were invited to add an extra €2 to their shopping bills as a donation to the Irish Heart Foundation, raised a massive €340,329.
More than 4,000 people signed up to the Irish Heart Foundation’s Love Run to walk or run 5k on Valentine’s Day and together they raised an amazing €207,688.
CarePlus Pharmacy made a very generous donation of €5,000 for which we are incredibly grateful.
People also generously sent a Valentine’s Day E-card to loved ones while additional donations via the Irish Heart Foundation website raised all added to the overall amount.
" At a time when we were locked down in the bleakest January and February, the generosity and love shone through,"
Judith Gilsenan, Commercial Director , The Irish Heart Foundation
Many of those who completed the Love Run did it to give something back to the Irish Heart Foundation in return for the support they received during a very dark time in their lives
People like Ciaran Byrne, a 30-year-old who had three heart attacks and feared he would not survive to become a father. Ciaran signed up for the Love Run on Valentine’s Day to thank the Irish Heart Foundation for helping him to rebuild his life.
When we asked you to ‘Show Some Heart’ in February we never dreamed so many would answer the call.
We are blown away by the goodwill of everyone. The thousands of heart and stroke patients that need our services thank you too. Thank you so much for doing it for the hearts that can’t.
Commenting Judith Gilsenan, Commercial Director with the Irish Heart Foundation said, “We asked people to ‘Show Some Heart’ this February and they listened. We were absolutely thrilled by the way everyone took part – whether to give at the till with Dunnes Stores or CarePlus, send an eCard or put on their runners for the Love Run. At a time when we were locked down in the bleakest January and February, the generosity and love shone through and we had the best February campaign in 25 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you,”
