The coronavirus pandemic has changed almost every aspect of our lives. While we must all now stay physically apart, its important to remember that you are not alone.  

In response to this crisis, the Irish Heart Foundation has developed a range of resources including online and telephone support services.

New phone support service for stroke survivors

The Irish Heart Foundation in conjunction with the HSE National Stroke Programme, has launched a new telephone service for anyone who needs support, advice or information in the aftermath of stroke. Call 01 6685001 or email support@irishheart.ie  Monday to Friday 9 am to 1 pm. For more information, see here.

Patient support groups for stroke patients and their carers.

All our patient support groups have moved online and we also have a number of private Facebook groups where you can access expert information and share your thoughts and concerns with similarly affected people:

Life after Stroke – a Facebook group for stroke survivors and their carers.

Irish Heart Foundation Carers’ Group – this Facebook group is specifically for carers of stroke survivors.

We are accepting new members in all of our groups If you would like to join, please email Tracy on tegan@irishheart.ie telling her which group you would like to join or call 01 6685001. 

Latest information

We are continually updating all the latest information and advice on the coronavirus for people living with heart disease and stroke. We have also developed a range of resources to help you stay active, eat well and keep heart healthy.

When Stroke strikes twice

The Irish Heart Foundation’s stroke support service has been a lifeline for new dad Enda McDermott who, at the age of 34, has had two strokes, his second one happened at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
