Today we remember popular sports commentator Jimmy Magee who has died at the age of 82.
Irish Heart had the pleasure of working with Jimmy in 2014 when he launched our Big Heart Fight Night Challenges – to raise much-needed funds for stroke and heart disease.
The veteran broadcaster was a great ambassador for better heart health – having undergone triple bypass surgery several years ago.
Irish Heart extends deepest sympathies to Jimmy’s family and friends.
“We all know someone affected by heart disease and stroke, there isn’t a family in the country that hasn’t been touched by it. I’ve had some heart problems in the past myself,” said Jimmy
Yet despite this, many people still do not realise that cardiovascular disease is the biggest cause of death in Ireland.
