Pavee Point - Finglas

The aim of the Pavee Point Community Heart Project is to work in partnership with Travellers in the Finglas area and the Irish Heart Foundation, to create a community that promotes healthy lifestyles.

A core group of participants work in the community garden every week and attend horticulture and a range of other related classes.

Pavee Point also runs cookery classes nearby which are open to all.

The Pavee Point Finglas Advisory Group includes a number of local stakeholders including, Dublin County Council and the ETB. The County Council has been instrumental in supporting the development of the community garden, and the ETB organises a number of related courses.

The Pavee Point Project also links with the Department of Social Protection to create Community Employment places for participants to help with the sustainability of the project and improve long-term employment opportunities.

'As Travellers it's a good space for us to talk about mental health. I'm developing skills and learning new things about how to improve my health which I get to share with my family.'
