The Irish Heart Foundation’s Community Heart Project is a community-based programme which works with local groups to empower them to lead heart healthy lives.
Through the Community Heart Project, the Irish Heart Foundation is funding three programmes: Pavee Point in Finglas, the Raheen Family Resource Centre in Wexford and Teach na nDaoine Family Resource Centre in Monaghan over a three-year period.
The Irish Heart Foundation works in partnership with Pavee Point in Dublin, Teach na nDaoine Family Resource Centre in Monaghan and the Raheen Family Resource Centre in Wexford, to help their communities adopt healthier lifestyles and improve overall health outcomes. These organisations work in strategic partnership with key local stakeholders, including local Education Training Boards (ETB), County Councils and the Health Service Executive (HSE).
The Community Heart Projects include the development of a community garden, healthy cooking classes, education sessions on nutrition by a registered dietitian and classes on budgeting, food labelling, food waste and healthy food shopping.
