Marathon man to swim length of Ireland

Former FAI President’s son to undertake 500k swim in his memory

Alan Corcoran has begun the challenge of a lifetime – a swim that will take him the length of Ireland in memory of his late father, former Football Association of Ireland (FAI) President Milo Corcoran.

Alan will kick off the 500km challenge from the Giant’s Causeway, Co Antrim on May 13th and will swim up to 12 hours a day until he reaches his hometown of Dunmore East in Co Waterford.

Alan is taking on the swim with the hope of raising €50,000 for Irish Heart (75%) and the Solas Cancer Support Centre (25%).

“Losing my dad, especially in the helpless manner in which it all happened, has been the toughest experience of my life.

The swim is the equivalent of 10,000 Olympic swimming pools.

Help Alan raise money for charities close to his heart.

“Out of the darkness, I am going through with my family I am determined to grasp any opportunity to create some positives.

“There was nothing I could do but try and comfort my dad in those heartbreaking weeks in hospital. We were all helpless. The swim is my small way of feeling like I’m taking some meaningful action.”
