The Irish Heart Foundation’s Mobile Health Unit is travelling around communities in Ireland with trained nurses providing FREE blood pressure checks, and comprehensive lifestyle advice on heart health.
The response to the Mobile Unit from the community has been great.
The Unit received a warm welcome at a recent meeting of the Men’s Sheds organisation in Sallins in Co Kildare recently.
The unit proved to be a real lifesaver for one client Bobby Mulvaney who on examination was told his blood pressure was 189 over 90. Bobby subsequently attended his own GP and was out on medication for his blood pressure.
“We had a cluster meeting for the Men’s Shed in Sallins which was visited by the Irish Heart Foundation’s mobile health unit. I got checked and it was 189 over 90 which was ‘high, but they told me not be panicking’. I went for a follow up with his GP two weeks later and was put on medication for blood pressure,” Bobby Mulvaney, Sallins Men’s Shed, Kildare.
