General medical training University Hospital Galway and Dublin University Hospitals 1976-1979. Research and clinical training Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Post-Graduate Medical School (Imperial College of Medicine) London UK 1979-1983. Cardiology Fellowship Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota USA 1983-1986. Consultant Cardiologist, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital 1986. Director Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories Mater Hospitals 1986 to present. Associate Clinical Professor Mater-UCD.

Qualifications: MB BCh BAO 1976, M Sc University of London, MD National University of Ireland, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, American Board Internal Medicine, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Principal focus over the past 25 years has been the development of a team which delivers a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for patients with advanced complex cardiac conditions. Special interest advanced coronary and structural heart interventional procedures. Leader of a core team of 10 Consultant Cardiologists performing in excess of 6,500 diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories on the Mater Campus. Member of a wide variety of Government and National Professional Societies.
