One year on – we remember rugby legend Anthony Foley

By

One year on, Anthony Foley’s wife recalls how the loss of her husband ‘brought us to our knees’.

RTE aired a one-hour documentary titled “Anthony Foley: Munsterman”.  The Widlfire Films produced documentary tells a story of Munster Rugby through the life of Anthony Foley.

Told from within the Munster family, viewers will get to know the man, and get an extraordinary honest insight into the events surrounding Anthony’s time as head coach, his death and the emotional aftermath.  With intimate and stunningly candid contributions from the likes of Peter O’Mahony, Keith Earls, Billy Holland, Conor Murray, Simon Zebo, CJ Stander, Jerry Flannery, Ronan O’Gara, Paul O’Connell, Keith Wood, and Anthony’s sister’s Rosie and Orla Foley as they try to come to terms with the sudden death of their coach, colleague, friend and brother.

As Champions Cup rugby returns to Thomond Park on Saturday, the encounter against Racing 92 will see the players wear jerseys with the Irish Heart Foundation’s logo on the front as a mark of the province’s support in the fight against sudden cardiac death.

There will also be a minute’s applause in memory of Axel just before kick off in Thomond Park.

Tickets for Munster v Racing 92 (ko 5.30pm) can be purchased online here, from the Munster Rugby Ticket Offices at Irish Independent Park and Thomond Park, or by calling 061 421103.

Our thoughts are as always, with Olive, Tony and Dan, the Foley family, and friends of Axel.
